When a die hard Manchester United fan discovered that one of his heroes was in Thailand, he went to extreme lengths to meet up with him.
Super reds fan Prinya Insomchur heard that legend Eric Cantona was on the isle of Koh Samui, so he quickly purchased a flight and headed to the island, in the hope of a meeting.
Cantona, 51, played for Man Utd from 1992 till 1997, playing in 147 matches, following his move from Leeds United. He was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson and is often credited with being responsible for the start of their domination of English football.
The Frenchman is well known for his short fuse that led to the kung fu attack on Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmons, after his sending off. So it was with kid gloves that Prinya approached the star, after spending the best part of a day, trying to locate his hero.
When he finally caught up with the former player, he was enjoying dinner and one would imagine, it may have been safer to leave him alone. However, he approached and requested a photo but suggested that Eric finish his meal first. He waited patiently at a nearby table until the time came for the pair to meet.
Eric very kindly signed shirts that Prinya had with him and had his photo taken too. In return the fan presented the player with a pair of Muay Thai shorts.
Times comment:- Lucky guy, Eric is one of my heroes too.
