Khon Kaen Provincial Court has release one defendant today in the Khon Kaen bar girl murder and dismemberment case.
Jidarat Promkhun, 21, was the only defendant not charged with murder over the death of karaoke bar worker Warisara Klinjui, 22.
The court decided she wasn’t a flight risk and has released on bail, reported The Nation.
Her bail was THB 90,000, according to Bangkok Biz News. Jidarat has always maintained her innocence and said that she was in Bangkok when the murder occurred in Khon Kaen.
The four murder suspects have confessed and are facing the death penalty.
Jidarat has only been charged with theft, since she had sold Warisara’s cell phone after the young woman’s death.
The other suspects: Preeyanuch Nonwangchai, 24, Kawita Rachada, 26, Apiwan Satayabundit, 28, and Wasin Namprom, 22, all remain in custody and face charges of premeditated murder, hiding a body to conceal a murder, theft, kidnapping, carrying weapons, and possessing stolen merchandise.
Preeyanuch became an Internet sensation after she was accused of the killing and dismemberment of Warisara, and fled to Myanmar along with Kawita and Apiwan. Days later, the trio surrendered to Myanmar police, who transferred them to the custody of Thai police on June 3 to face charges. Wasin was arrested earlier in Laos and Jidarat was arrested in Bangkok.
Preeyanuch, Kawita, and Apiwan caught the public’s attention for what was thought to be preferential treatment by the police because they are young and attractive.
