The Airport Department of Thailand has said that Chinese investors are eager to plough money into three Thai airports, according the the departments leading figure.
Department Director-General Darun Saengchai, said the airports that the investors have shown great interest in are Buriram, Phetchabun and Nakhon Ratchasima.
It was also stated that companies who were showing interest included airlines, housing and business developers and state enterprises, and that low interests loans were available from the Chinese government for overseas projects.
Any company wishing to involve themselves with Thai airport improvements, would have to work in conjunction with Thai companies, the official continued to say.
The three airports could see capacity increased, improved facilities and jobs being created in the regions as a result of any investment.
Bids could go ahead as early as the first quarter of 2019, once the Transport Ministry approve the hiring of a consultancy firm to carry out feasibility studies of the airports’ refurbishment.
Good news for the people who live and work close the three locations.
